    Moniek werkt sinds mei 2019 als postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij de programmagroep Preventieve Jeudhulp en Opvoeding binnen het Research Institute of Child Development and Education. Hier houdt zij zich bezig met longitudinaal onderzoek naar de invloed van opvoeding op DNA methylatieprocessen en stress-regulatie bij kinderen.

    Het promotieonderzoek van Moniek (afgerond 2019) richtte zich op: a) in hoeverre het mentaliserend vermogen van ouders (d.w.z. de geneigdheid om betekenis te geven aan de gevoelens en gedachten van hun kind) van invloed is op de sociaal-emotionele ontwikkeling van kinderen (o.a., gehechtheid, emotie-regulatie, sociale competentie) en (b) in hoeverre behandeling gericht op het verbeteren van mentaliseren een positieve invloed heeft op de gehechtheid en het gedrag van kinderen.
