The Copyright Checker provides information about:
- what is always allowed
- what is allowed under certain conditions
- what you can do if you can't figure it out yourself.
The Copyright Checker can be picked up in printed form at the Library locations and (staff)secretariats of your study programme from the start of the new academic year. The checklist is printed on recycled paper and distributed in small editions. This way you can keep the checklist with you when you start working on your teaching material. The checklist is available digitally also.
Compliance with rules mandatory as of September 4 2023
As a teacher you have to deal with copyright when offering teaching materials. For example, when you include journal articles, book chapters or images in a reader, presentation, Canvas or Teams. The UvA participates in the national Easy Access buyout scheme (2023-2025). This allows teachers to use or re-use copyrighted material to aid in non-commercial teaching. There are specific conditions for this. These conditions have recently been amended and the new rules must be observed as of the new academic year (2023-2024).
