Discover all the loan options of the UvA
You will find a lot of information online and in our databases. But sometimes you just need that one book or journal and that is where we help you. To borrow you need a student or staff card from the UvA or HvA (visitors: a library card).
Students and staff of the UvA can consult the databases, e-journals and e-books of the Library from anywhere, including at home after logging in with their UvAnetID. Read what the conditions are.
Request your publications from the Library's collection easily online via UvA CataloguePlus. We have listed everything about borrowing & access at the UvA for you.
Those who are not affiliated with the UvA but want to borrow publications from the Library's collection can request a free UKB or paid library card online. Read how to do that and what the conditions are.
Articles from printed journals in one of the UvA libraries can be requested via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) with an ILL account and sent as a PDF file by e-mail. This service is only available to UvA students and employees.
If a book or article is not available at the UvA or AUAS, you can use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to request it from another library. You need an ILL account for this service.
