The UvA Open Access Fund supports ‘diamond open access’ initiatives: publication platforms and journals that do not charge for publication or reading. This year, it is once again possible for new, emerging or proven UvA diamond open access initiatives to apply for funding. The new round of applications closes on 1 July 2023.

The UvA Diamond Open Access Fund has two funding routes. For each route, €50,000 is available annually.

This round concerns funding applications for Route 2: the launch of new or professionalization of existing UvA diamond initiatives.

Route 1: Initiatives that have published works by UvA researchers

The UvA donates to diamond open access initiatives that have published scientific articles by UvA researchers if they meet certain conditions. It is not possible to apply for this route. Diamond Open Access initiatives that qualify for a donation are identified via the Pure registration system. Donations for 2022 will be made in July this year.

Route 2: UvA initiatives

Until 1 July 2023, applications for one-off funding may be submitted for the launch of new or professionalization of existing UvA diamond initiatives.

The procedure and conditions for submitting an application for Route 2 can be requested from Pascal Braak (p.braak@uva.nl), the Library’s open access specialist.
