The licence conditions for digital and printed acquisitions in readers or Canvas are now included in CataloguePlus and no longer in separate licence lists. These conditions state which books and journals may be copied digitally or printed and distributed in education.

Copy entire publication

Some publishers allow reproduction of the entire publication for educational purposes. In CataloguePlus you can check whether this is allowed. At the bottom of this post you will find an explanation of how to check this.

For the University of Amsterdam, CatalogusPlus will be ready for this from 1 October 2022.

Easy Access Regeling

Entire publication is not allowed?

Then only copy part of it with a maximum

If you wish to copy publications for which no permission is stated in CataloguePlus, the Easy Access Scheme applies. Under this arrangement, copying publications does not have to be reported or paid for separately. This is because the UvA and HvA pay publishers a fixed annual lump sum.

The conditions for taking over are:

  • a maximum of 50 pages, and;
  • maximum of 25% of the entire publication, and;
  • correct source citation.

Examples

  • From a book or magazine issue of 200 pages you can copy a maximum of 50 pages;
  • From a book/magazine episode of 50 pages, you can copy a maximum of 12 pages.
