Access policy

The Book Depot (IWO) is closed stacks. There is no open shelving, so it is not possible to walk along the book cases to browse the books and take out a publication for loan. All publications in the Book Depot can be found via CataloguePlus, just like the rest of the collection.

Exception to htis include newspapers, large format publications, and large quantities of material must be consulted exclusively in the reading room of the Books Depot and will not be sent to other libraries.

• Prior booking is required via email to: depots@uva.nl. Requests to consult works which have been handed in after 15:30, will only be dealt with the next work day.
• Here, too, you must have a UvA or HvA Student or Staff ID card, library card or a week pass.
• Opening Hours for appointments only: Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:00.

Consulting space

You can reserve a space by sending an email 3 days in advance  to depots@uva.nl, stating:

• the date and time of the planned visit;
• first and last name;
• email address;
• student card, employee or borrower card number;
• and if possible, the location code/signature of the material you wish to consult.
