The databases from BvD are:

  • BankFocus: database of banks worldwide. Information is sourced by Bureau van Dijk from annual reports, information providers and regulatory sources and contains detailed information on US and Non-US banks, including history for listed and unlisted banks.
  • Orbis Intellectual Property: (Orbis IP) currently tracks more than 110 million patents and covers countries from across the globe. The global patent data are linked to companies and corporate groups, which means that you can combine company information with global patent data, such as publication information, ownership, industry and patent classification, and patent value. You can also find data on M&A deals and corporate structures - all related to patents.
  • Orbis: contains comprehensive information on companies worldwide. Orbis contains information on both listed and unlisted companies. Listed companies are in a more detailed format. Company financials in a standardised format, Financial strength indicators, Directors and contacts, Private equity data and portfolios, Detailed corporate and ownership structures, Industry research, Business and company-related news.
  • Orbis M&A: The database contains information on M&A, IPO, Private Equity and Venture Capital operations and related rumors from around the world, with historical series and without limits for the deal size.
  • M&A Research Catalyst: Brings expertise on deal and company information together. It combines data from two databases - Orbis and Zephyr - in one platform.

How to access it:

  • There is no need to make an account. Access to these databases is IP-based: when not on university location, access is guaranteed via eduVPN.
