Integrity is fundamental to academic research and scientific progress. How can we preserve and promote research integrity, and provide safeguards against threats? We will discuss the new 2027 Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, and other ways to promote honest, scrupulous, transparent and responsible research and avoid ‘sloppy science’.
Following a welcome by Anniek de Ruijter, Rector Magnificus of the University of Amsterdam, science journalist Stan van Pelt will explore what goes wrong in research and what we can do about it. Jonathan Soeharno will introduce the 2027 Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, which he co-authored: why it matters and what will change.
They will then join UvA academics Bert Bakker, Sonja Smets and Janneke Horn for a roundtable discussion moderated by research policy officer Simon Speksnijder. Bring your questions, join the debate and continue the conversation over drinks.
Walk-ins/doors open at 14:30
