Open access expert at the UvA/AUAS Library Pascal Braak has co-authored a practical guide on predatory and questionable publishing practices  to help (early-career) scientists navigate this complex issue. The guide offers practical advice on how to assess journal reliability before submitting work.

With this guide as a starting point, the Library UvA/AUAS organises a roundtable discussion on predatory publishers and questionable publishing practices , how to safeguard research integrity, make informed decisions in publishing and deal with predatory publishers on Thursday 26 September from 15:30 to 17:00.

The event is open to all researchers and academics, policy makers and research support staff at UvA and AUAS.

15:30-15:45 Introduction
The roundtable discussion will be introduced by a presentation on predatory publishers and questionable publishing practices by Pascal Braak (Open access specialist UvA/AUAS Library), addressing the key considerations and dilemma’s for the following discussion.

The event will be concluded by networking drinks.

Everybody at UvA and AUAS who is interested in the topic is welcome to attend the discussion. There will be opportunity to ask questions or share personal experiences with questionable and predatory publishing. Since predatory publishing can be sensitive topic, to this event the Chatham House Rule applies.
