Access policy
The Medical Library is accessible to students at the Faculty of Medicine of the UvA and to employees of Amsterdam UMC. The Library is also open to students of the Faculty of Medicine of the VU, Amstel Academy and AUAS Health studies.
Opening hours
Medical Library: Monday to Thursday from 08.30 - 18.00. Friday from 08.30 - 17.00.
Digitorium: Monday to Friday from 08.30 - 22.00. The entrance to the Digitorium is through the Medical Library or, if it is closed, through entrance J0.
Study Spaces
- 350 work and study spaces.
- Desktops to work on.
- Wifi (Eduroam).
- Sockets for laptops or tablets.
- Areas for consultation.
- When not in use, the TBL room is also available as a study room.
Service & Collection
- Support in finding academic information and research data.
- Curriculum books are available for day loan (return before 6pm) via the front desk.
- E-journals and databases are available 24x7.
- Printing, copying and scanning. You can find more information about printing, copying and scanning at student.uva.nl.
- Extensive (digital) collection of books and reference works.
- Specialised search engines such as PubMed and Embase, indispensable for clinicians and researchers at the AMC.
- More than 20,000 e-books.
- Newspaper articles.
Digital services from home
- The Library's digital services are available via the Central Digital Workstation (CDW) or via Citrix. Go to intranet location AMC (top left) and search for Medical Library.
Accessibility
The Medical Library is accessible for wheelchair users.
