Data Science Centre

The University of Amsterdam Data Science Centre (DSC) mission is to enhance the university’s research by developing, sharing and applying data science methods and technologies.

Accelerating Data-driven Research

As a coordinating hub within the UvA Library, the centre is uniquely positioned to facilitate knowledge exchange as well as the training of skills related to digital and data-driven research and thus contributes to the innovation, diffusion and cross pollination of data science across the university. The centre will have will have data scientists and engineers embedded in every UvA faculty.

For more information, see:

Current Programmes

The Data Science Centre has two programmes currently open and more coming in 2021.

Accelerate Programme - Call for Proposals

Have you ever considered how data science could enhance the way you conduct research in your faculty? The Data Science Centre aims to accelerate data driven research and stimulate the hiring of data scientist and data engineers across the university.

Through the Accelerate Programme the Data Science Centre will help support the costs of hiring within these roles. The programme is not only intended to facilitate knowledge exchange throughout the university, but also incentivise the integration of these roles into existing research activity.

Important Dates

  • Deadline: 26 February 2021

Information Session

The Information Session was held on 29 January 2021. Please contact dsc@uva.nl for information slides.

Affiliate Programme – Call for Applications

Are you already doing data science at the UvA? Are you already engineering cool data pipelines? Are you looking to connect with other data scientists and engineers within the university and increase your visibility? If so, we encourage you to apply to become a UvA Data Science Centre Affiliate.

For more information, see the call. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis starting in January 2021.
