Singel closes on 30 June, and the P.C. Hoofthuis Library on 16 June. Printed collections will not be accessible during the move.

The new UB combines modern study comfort with Amsterdam’s historical heritage. The building, originally a hospital, has been transformed based on thorough research and input from students.
Students expressed a preference for smaller study spaces rather than large halls and a surrounding environment filled with books. This feedback has been incorporated into the design. The Humanities collections will remain, maintaining the atmosphere of a traditional library.
The Humanities collections from the UB Singel and the PC Hoofthuis Library are moving to the new UB. This means that the collection from the PC Hoofthuis Library will no longer be accessible from Friday 13 June. And from Monday 30 June, the collection from the UB Singel will no longer be accessible.
Plan ahead and borrow the books you need from the PC Hoofthuis and UB Singel collections on time. The loan periods for borrowed books from the Humanities collections will be extended until the new University Library opens.
During the moving period, you will receive an alternative pick-up location for material that you request from the Book Depot or another library location. In CataloguePlus, you can view the available options when requesting material.
The Library will remain available on all campuses. Roeterseiland (REC H) is a quiet study location in the summer, and Science Park may be a good alternative if it's closer to your home.
The creation of the new UB in the historic heart of Amsterdam was a complex challenge.
