Starting in July, lecturers wishing to offer their students readers or reading lists will be able to do this within Canvas, UvA's digital learning environment. Students can download their readers free of charge in Canvas or order a printed version for a fee. The readers for the 2019-2020 academic year will remain available to lecturers in the new system.

As from 1 July, compiling a reader as well as ordering it will be done within Canvas, UvA's trusted digital learning environment.

Since the end of last year Canvas has been linked to the library collections. Lecturers can copy publications and bibliographical details directly from the library. The advantage of this is that readers can be compiled more quickly and free of errors.

In recent months, the Library has been testing “Readers in Canvas” together with lecturers and students. The purpose of the test was to achieve a new, simple procedure within Canvas in order to organize and offer all literature for students at a course level.

In the new system, the readers for the 2019-2020 academic year will remain available to lecturers. They will use the old readers to draw up revised versions.
