From 19 to 26 February, students at the Faculty of Science tested three different desk chairs on comfort, appearance, adjustability and robustness, and rated them using an online form. The Library used the results of the survey as a guide in the choice of chairs for the new study spaces in the Labhal in Building D.

Chair number one is the students' favorite.

The winning desk chair is a classic design which is out of production; the Library will therefore buy the chairs second hand. In this way, it will be able to respect the students’ choice after all. The Library considers this a good choice from a sustainability point of view as well.

The winning desk chair got the highest scores on all four aspects tested. On a scale from 1 to 10 the students gave the chair a score of 8.5 for comfort and adjustability. It scored less well on appearance. However, the survey showed that students choose comfort over aesthetics, in particular considering the long periods they spend in the study spaces.

Labhal, Building D

A total of 114 new study places are being added in the experimental hall in section D of the building to meet students’ needs. Three enclosed islands are being installed in the hall, each with access from the corridor on the first floor of D (walk-through between Buildings C and F). These study places will be perfect for highly concentrated, individual work. The study places will be available with effect from the 2020/2021 academic year.
