On Tuesday the 15th and Wednesday the 16th of November from 09.30 - 17.00, the Library organizes a workshop of two full days for UvA-researchers and masterstudents who want to gain knowledge on the basics of programming and plotting with Python.

The workshop material is based on The Carpentries; a worldwide organization of researchers, programmers and knowledge workers who teach their colleagues data and software skills in a low threshold way. 

During this course the following subjects will be covered: 

  • Programming and plotting with Python  

  • Unix Shell 

  • GitHub 

Required prior knowledge: 

  • Understand what Python files and directories are 

  • Know what a working Python directory is 

  • Know how to start a Python interpreter 

Language: English

Registration and costs

The workshop is offered at no cost.

Maximum number of participants: 20 

In case of more than 20 applicants, a selection is made based on background and motivation. No later than 4 November you will receive a message on whether your participation is final.
