c. Adding Non UvA Publications

Registering Research Output

Pure has an option to register publications from a prior employment. These will also be shown under the publication tab of the UvA Profile page.

For this you must add the publication as ‘external’, i.e. not a single UvA affiliation must appear in the 'Contributors and affiliations’ block. Follow these steps:

When importing a record

  1. Open the imported record.
  2. Scroll to the heading ‘Authors and affiliations’. Make sure your author name is still mentioned under ‘Internal person’. Change the affiliations of yourself and any other internal co-authors.
  3. Check the affiliations of yourself and any other internal co-authors (ignore affiliations of co-authors who are an ‘External person’). Remove all UvA affiliations. To do this use the minus signs on the right.
  4. Then click ‘Edit’ after your name. Go to the subheading ‘Affiliation on the research output’. Click ‘Affiliations to an external organisation’, at ‘Search’ enter: ‘nonUvA’ and click ‘Update’. Repeat this step for any internal co-authors.
    This way your publication will get the label ‘nonUvA’. If you prefer to mention the specific name of your external organisation instead of the label ‘nonUvA’, you can add it via ‘Edit’:
    - Click ‘Create external organisation’, enter the name of the organisation.
    - Click ‘Create’ and then ‘Update.
  5. Check that not a single UvA affiliation is mentioned either at your own name or that of imported internal co-authors.

When entering a new record (manually)

  1. Create a new record and fill in the form.
  2. Scroll to the heading ‘Contributors and affiliations’, click ‘Edit’ after your name as author. Then uncheck all UvA affiliations at ‘Affiliation on the research output’!
  3. Then click ‘Affiliate to an external organisation’, at ‘Search’ enter: ‘nonUvA’ and click ‘Update’.
    This way your publication will get the label ‘nonUvA’. If you prefer to mention the specific name of your external organisation instead of the label ‘nonUvA’, you can add it via ‘Edit’:
    - Click ‘Create external organisation’, enter the name of the organisation.
    - Click ‘Create’ and then ‘Update’.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 if you are adding other internal co-authors: uncheck their UvA affiliation via ‘Edit’ (see step 2) and enter an external affiliation (step 3).
  5. Check that not a single UvA affiliation is mentioned either at your own name or that of internal co-authors.
