The Library Learning Spaces are located on the ground floor of the characteristic P.C. Hoofthuis. Here you can find a place to study with a view on the canal.

Humanities collection moves to the new Library Vendelstraat

How will this affect your study space and ability to borrow books?

The P.C. Hoofthuis Library will close on Monday, 16 June. From that moment, the printed collection on the first and second floors will no longer be accessible due to the move.

Collecting and returning books

After 16 June, you can collect and return requested materials at other library locations. Please note: at the University Library Singel, this is possible up to and including 29 June.

Studying at PCH remains possible

A total of 127 study spaces will remain available on the ground floor.

Access policy

With a valid card the PCH is accessible for UvA students and staff, HvA students and staff and for registered borrowers. Read more about the access policy.

Study Spaces

  • Library Learning Spaces: 120 study spaces, of which 20 with PC (ground floor).
  • Collaboration rooms (can be reserved on site).

Check the opening hours of the study spaces of the Library.

Service & Collection

The Service & Collection desk is permantly closed.

 

Accessibility

The Library Learning Spaces are located on the ground floor. The P.C. Hoofthuis Library is located on the 1st and 2nd floor of the building. The entrance to the library is on the 1st floor. To visit the 1st floor, you need a lift key. This is available at the reception desk.
