25 November 2019
Today, we distributed a Neighbourhood News message with an update on the progress of the construction work in and around the University Library. We are pleased to announce that the contractor (VSF-VHB) has also organised another guided tour for local residents; this will take place on 27 November 2019.
The contractor is still hard at work on the foundation piles, both inside the Tweede Chirurgische Kliniek and on the site of the new building. The contractor is also pressing ahead with work to drive the sheet pile walls. This work is now largely complete at the Binnengasthuisstraat, and the same applies for the courtyard. Next week, the contractor’s will turn its focus to the sheet pile walls at the Vendelstraat near buildings BG3 and BG5 and the last section of wall at the Binnengasthuisstraat. Liander is also still hard at work connecting the temporary transformer (power supply). Work is on schedule and the temporary transformers are now in operation. Liander is wrapping up its work and will probably be finished this week.
See the Neighbourhood news message for the full schedule (in Dutch).
The guided tour will take place on Wednesday, 27 November 2019. The programme will start at Vendelstraat 7a at 16:00 and end at about 17:30. The aim of the guided tour is to offer local residents the opportunity to take a look around the building site with the contractor and discuss the work and any points for improvement with each other. Representatives of the municipality and UvA will be present too.
Given the preparations necessary, it would be useful to know how many people are planning to come along. If you are interested and want to register, send an e-mail to Ingeborg Kappert, the contractor’s area manager, at ikappert@avecodebondt.nl.
