The Christmas fair on Tuesday 16 December proved very popular among local residents, students and UvA staff. Father Christmas brought children from the nearby Boekman school to the festively decorated square at the entrance to Building H, signalling the start of an afternoon of Christmas fun. Visitors were treated to hot chocolate and mulled wine, and given a poinsettia to take home.
A choir from CREA sang Christmas songs, and visitors were informed about the progress of the campus building project. There were also guided tours of De Brug, which was completed in the autumn.
At the Central Student Council stand, visitors were invited to submit their Christmas wish for the campus, their faculty or the university. Among the participants two prizes were given out: a dinner at the Pizzabakkers restaurant and a lunch at Bagels and Beans. A colouring competition was organised for the children. Poinsettias were also handed out to the residents of the Sarphatihuis nursing home across the street from the Roeterseiland Campus.
