In the past few years, the UvA has been working to establish four open city campuses. The City Centre Campus is the fourth and final campus to be developed as part of this project. In future, this campus will serve as the home base for students and employees from the Faculty of Humanities and the University Library (UB).
Recent developments have occurred that will have an impact on the UvA’s (future) accommodation, including fluctuations in student numbers, modes of education financing and a changing vision on accommodation for education and research.
These developments call not only for the current City Centre Campus scenario to be optimised, but for alternative options to be considered. An alternative scenario is currently being devised where the Faculty of Humanities and the University Library would maintain their prominent positions on the campus.
The university community will be informed and consulted once we have a clearer picture of how the City Centre Campus is to be laid out. This is due to take place by the end of the first quarter of 2016.
Local residents of the City Centre Campus district will receive an invitation this week to attend a ‘Coffee with the neighbours’ event.
