The University Library has taken out a temporary subscription to Adam Matthew Explorer. This effectively adds no less than 75 databases to our collection for UvA students, lecturers and researchers.

Access to sources is essential for solid and thorough research, but access to primary sources at museums and archives is limited, especially in the midst of the current pandemic. We will now enjoy access to the collection of primary sources at Adam Matthew Explorer until the end of 2021. The collection consists of 75 databases with various archival sources that are relevant to various disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The material dates from the 15th to the 21st century and covers a wide range of subjects, such as migration, slavery, music, colonialism, crime, Shakespeare, gender, food, health, politics, etc.

The databases can currently be accessed from the UvA buildings and at home via VPN. The use of the databases will be evaluated in December.
