Would you like to attend a concert by the UvA’s J.Pzn Sweelinck Orchestra on Monday, 3 December? Join the ticket raffle for a chance to win one of 25 sets of 2 tickets. The raffle is open to UvA students only.

Programme

The concert will take place in the Dominicuskerk in Amsterdam, near Amsterdam Central Station. The Sweelinck Orchestra is Amsterdam’s oldest symphony orchestra and has gained a reputation as an innovative student orchestra that performs at a high level. Led by Swiss conductor Konradin Herzog, it will perform the following pieces:

  • Jean Sibelius – Ouverture from ‘The Tempest’, and ‘Pohjola’s Dochter’
  • Maurice Ravel – ‘Shéhérazade’ for soprano and orchestra

Break with coffee/tea/cookies

  • Kaija Saariaho – ‘Quatre instants’ for soprano and orchestra
  • Claude Debussy - ‘La Mer’

This year the Sweelinck Orchestra will be playing two pieces with soprano Iris van Wijnen.

The concert starts at 20:15, but doors will open at 19:30.

Ticket raffle

The UvA is offering a raffle of 25x2 tickets for registered UvA students. You can enter the raffle until Sunday, 25 November. Recipients of the tickets will receive an email by Wednesday, 28 November at the latest.
