From March 2017, the currently still-empty corridors and halls on the 2nd and 3rd floors of building B/C on Roeterseiland will house additional study and shared workspaces. The overall atmosphere and appearance of these floors are getting a makeover as well. In total, some 225 new study and shared workspaces will be created.
These new study places, shared workspaces and cosy seating areas will be placed in the open spaces in the middle of the halls and the adjacent lecture halls, near the tutorial rooms. In the design, special attention has been paid to making the space more colourful and lively, as well as improving acoustics, so that the 2nd and 3rd floors will soon be comfortable places to hang out before or after lectures. The indoor climate conditions are also being improved. See the picture for an impression.
In the week of 10 October, we will be installing a trial set-up of a few temporary study places on the 3rd floor, in order to determine the best way to arrange furniture in the space. The aim is to enable you to focus on your work while others can still easily walk past.
After the study places try-out, the actual study places will be installed in phases over the coming months. Before the furniture arrives, there are still a few renovations to be made in order to get the halls ready. We will keep you posted on the situation during the period ahead.
