The UvA contemplation rooms opened on 1 April 2016. The contemplation rooms are neutral spaces and are open to all UvA staff and students.
At least one room per campus has been designated as a contemplation room. Staff and students can retreat to the contemplation room for a moment of silent reflection or meditation, or to escape the bustle of campus life.
The contemplation rooms came about in response to a request submitted to the Executive Board by the Central Student Council (CSR), various faculty student councils and the ASVA student union. The contemplation rooms were developed by Facility Services in consultation with the faculties and the student councils.
The UvA has a total of four contemplation rooms, which are located on its various campuses. All of the rooms are situated in a generally accessible area of the building.
