On Friday, 13 March, from 20:00, VOX-POP will be hosting the U-Bal: a celebration of the ‘Boekenweek’ (Book Week, a week dedicated to Dutch literature) around the theme of rebels and nonconformist thinkers. The U-Bal will include an open mic. Staff and students can sign up and give a literary or musical performance of 3 minutes maximum.

The programme will also feature Arent van Nieukerken of the Slavonic Department, poet-presenter Daan Doesborgh, singer-songwriting duo Kopje Onder, and a performance by DJ Radio Tempo Não Pára.

If you are interested in attending the U-Bal or performing in the open mic, please register via the link below.

This will be the third edition of the U-Bal, a Humanities Lab AVS initiative. This year’s organising committee, which features staff from the Faculty of Humanities, University Library and Amsterdam University Press, is led by Lisa Kuitert, professor of Book Studies.

Nicole Kaandorp, Master’s student doing the programme Redacteur/editor (Editing and Publishing), wrote a song (in Dutch) inspired by the Book Week theme; it also encourages everyone to participate in the open mic!
