How well do you know the Library?
If you are here it means you are curious about this image.
It seems as if you are standing in a forest full of trees. Nothing could be further from the truth. This was taken underneath the building of the new University Library, where it takes 640 steel posts to keep the building upright. The sand between the posts has been removed with small carts to make a cellar, which will eventually house not only the bicycle shed, but the book lending facility too. The basement will soon be completed and then building will start above ground, with the monumental Binnengasthuis being further renovated and rebuilt. All information about this special building can be found on the campus website.
Unfortunately, the submission period for this quiz has expired. We will be posting another fun activity in this section shortly. Stay informed via our social media channels. Thank you for your interest.
