Access to the Law Library

From 1 October to 1 July, between 9:00 and 17:00, access to the study room and collection of the Law Library is limited to Amsterdam Law School students (including PPLE) and Amsterdam Law School staff members with an activated student ID or staff card.

All other library users have access on Monday through Thursday from 17:00 - 18:00 during this period. The library desk is accessible during the day. Read more about the services offered to library users not affiliated to the Amsterdam Law School.

Monday - Thursday: 9:00-18:00
Friday: 9:00-17:00

Study places

The Law Library has over 150 study places, divided over the study room and the library desk area.

Study room
Between 9:00 and 17:00, these study places are only accessible to Amsterdam Law School students and staff:
•  8 study places with PC (log in with UvAnetID);
•  103 study places without PC: these desks have power sockets for laptops and other devices. 17 desks have a monitor you can connect a laptop to (cables can be borrowed from the library desk). 

Library desk area
These study places are available for all library users during the opening hours of the Law Library:
•  2 study places with PC (log in with UvAnetID);
•  38 study places without PC: these desks have power sockets for laptops and other devices. There are two tables with extra-large monitors, meant for working together in a group (up to 5 people).
•  3 15-minute-PCs (log in with UvAnetID);
•  4 public access PCs: these computers are available for all visitors and can be used to consult all e-journals and databases without logging in.

Service & Collection

You can go to the library desk (4th floor REC A) for support and several facilities.
•  Collecting and returning books and other materials.
•  Support in finding (legal) academic information.
•  Borrowing of headphones and HDMI/DisplayPort/USB-C cables.
•  Printing, copying and scanning: there are two multifunctional devices available. Go to student.uva.nl for more information about printing, copying and scanning.

Accessibility

The Law Library is located on the 4th floor of building REC A. The lifts to the 1st to 4th floors of this building are only available with a UvA employee card. If necessary, visitors can borrow a lift pass from the UvA Service Point (red information desk, in the main hall REC A).
