Construction is progressing well
This spring, the Tweede Chirurgische Kliniek building was jacked up to lay a new foundation and construct a cellar. Precise building work and carefully installed holes in the monumental masonry allowed the historical building to be 'lifted' and set on new piles. Cement for the ground floor was then poured. The construction activities were followed by excavation work to create the new cellar under the Tweede Chirurgische Kliniek building and the new atrium. Some 100 m3 of sand is being hauled off every day. The excavation work will take about 100 days. The time-lapse video clearly shows the sunken floor in the atrium being created.
New UB interior
Late this month, the interior design plans will be finalised. This concerns everything from proposed furniture and how plants could be used to the names for various rooms. At a later stage, a model room will be set up in the University Library on Singel, featuring the proposed furniture, so staff and students can test chairs and indicate their preferences.
virtual tour, as well as a construction update that can be seen in the time-lapse video.
