As of today, students and employees of the University of Amsterdam have access to the full texts articles of The New York Times. De University Library has taken a subscription on this widely read American newspaper.
Previously one had to take a paid individual subscription in order to have access. From now on students and staff have all access within the UvA domain. And with a VPN connection all the content of the nytimes.com is also accessible outside the UvA. You can find The New York Times in our database selector.

What did the New York Times look like in the 1930s? Via the Times Machine option you will have access to the archives of the newspaper where you will find the articles in their original layout published between 1851 and 2002. What if you are looking for articles on a specific subject? For this you could also access our Proquest database that gives access to the New York Times archives from 1851 until 2012.
Within the UvA domain it is possible to create an account at nytimes.com/grouppass. This gives you the option to the latest news, save articles, view new books. With the account you could also login to the NY Times App. With this you can access the NY Times everywhere, even without VPN.
