On Friday, 29 March, the Faculty Book Week Committee of the Faculty of Humanities, VOX-POP and the University Library of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) will be organising an Open Podium and the University Library Ball as a closing event for the Boekenweek, taking as theme 'De moeder, de vrouw' (The mother, the woman). Would you also like to participate in the Open Podium? Sign up before 25 March.
The Boekenweek will begin on Saturday, 23 March, and has as its theme De moeder, de vrouw (The mother, the woman). Contrary to the days of Martinus Nijhoff (1894-1953) – the theme is also the title of one of his poems – marriage and motherhood are no longer regarded as the ultimate achievement for women. For that reason, the Faculty Book Week Committee of the Faculty of Humanities, VOX-POP and the University Library are organising an Open Podium and the University Library Ball on Friday, 29 March as a closing event for the Boekenweek, with 'woman in all her glory' as its theme.
We say: the woman;
the cornerstone of society,
the prime minister,
the career woman,
the girl next door,
and ... the feminist.
Would you like to present work related to this theme at the Open Podium? Sign up to do so before 25 March at email@example.com.
The Book Week Committee of the Faculty of Humanities has invited Dr Jelle Koopmans to speak on the subject of what scholars in the humanities have to say about this theme.
