In the B1.24 rooms, there are approximately 60 study places with a computer. 24 of these computers (with Windows and Linux) are on the computer balcony (C1.111) and intended for Science students to do practical work.
In the Study Centre, there are 36 computers available for UvA students and staff.
These 2 types of computer use different network disks. If you want to use files on both computers, you are advised to use Google Drive or a similar service.
In Datanose you can check which lecture rooms at FNWI are free and available as a study space. Rooms reserved for lectures are indicated by a dark bar. Outside lecture hours the rooms are available as an individual study spaces. The room must be cleared a quarter of an hour before the start of a lecture. Please, put everything back as you found it, and leave no litter behind. The use of these rooms is possible from Monday to Friday, 9:00-18:00. The rooms are then locked.
If a room is not open, please ask at the library desk.
It is not registered which PCs are free.
It is possible for students of the Faculty of Science to rent a laptop with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat at the library desk for € 2,50 a day. Rental and check-in times: week days from 9:00- 20:00. You have user rights on the laptop, so are free to install your own software.
Included are a laptop bag, adapter, USB mouse, lock and HDMI cable. Any installed software and saved documents will be deleted upon return.
Chromebooks can be borrowed without charge for 1 day, to be returned before 22.00.
In the Science Park Library and Study Centre (first floor) there are work rooms for groups which may be reserved by students
There are 6 rooms for 8 persons (min. 4 persons), and 7 rooms for 6 persons (min. 3 persons). Ten rooms are equipped with a screen for presentations. Max. 5 bookings may be placed at a time.
Staff of the Faculty of Science can use an online request form to request books and articles that are not available in the Library of the UvA. Copies of articles from journals in one of the other UvA libraries may be requested in the same way.
