UvA appoints site manager for construction of University Library
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) has contracted 'IsolveProblems' and 'BOAG Advies en Management' to manage and supervise the realisation of the new University Library in the years ahead. The library is due to be completed in 2021.
The design by architects MVSA and Van Stigt connects the BG13a/14 buildings on the Binnengasthuis premises by means of a glass roof, and the project also includes the construction of an underground bicycle shelter and new additions to the building. With all these features, the new University Library will be an architecturally unique and modern academic building that meets some of the Faculty of Humanities’ key needs.
Site management and supervision
During the realisation of the new University Library, the site manager will serve as the daily on-site representative and advocate of the UvA. The site manager is the first point of contact and will supervise the implementation process.
Rik Ter Haar, Jeroen van Egmond (BOAG) and Bart Daalder (IsolveProblems) are thrilled to follow up their previous successful collaboration. The project team was recently involved in the construction of the IJ Hall, two new passageways and the renovation and restoration of part of the monumental main building at Amsterdam Central Station.
‘We got started right away and are currently working on finalising the specifications and all preparatory activities. We are also assisting the UvA with the tendering procedures and the integration of the construction process in the surrounding environment. This is an amazing and challenging project. We look forward to building the new University Library in close collaboration with the UvA, the community, the designers and all other contracted parties in the years ahead.’
