How to find websites in my subject area
Academic search engines
The most important academic search engine is Google Scholar. It searches specifically for academic literature. If you perform searches in Google Scholar within the UvA domain, you can use the UvA-linker to find full-text articles.
Note: the content of Google Scholar is often NOT available via ordinary Google. So it may be useful to search both.
Directories are structured collections of links to web resources, ordered by subject or category. There are general directories and specialised ones, e.g. scientific directories. Interesting directories are Pinakes and Internet Scout Report. Directories are useful to orient yourself in a field or to search for general subjects.
Web resources for specific disciplines
Web resources for the Humanities can be found in Webbronnen FGw (Dutch interface).
Web resources for social and exact sciences can be found via the Discipline pages.
