RefWorks for UvA alumni
RefWorks allows you to build your own literature database. References may be imported from catalogues, databases or Google Scholar. With the Write-N-Cite tool you can add references or bibliographies to Word documents.
More information on RefWorks.
UvA alumni are welcome in all UvA libraries. The opening hours vary for each library.
In the University Library at Singel 425 you are welcome during the same time window as students and staff.
Access to electronic resources, for example articles from e-journals, is possible only within the UvA domain. Please, use the general access computers in the library. These computers are for library use only and do not provide free access to the internet.
And finally, some websites give access to academic open access resources (PDF).
Copying, printing, scanning
There are photocopy machines in all UvA libraries. Printing is limited to articles from our electronic resources. Payment for copying and printing is by prepaid card. You can buy prepaid cards at the library desk in the Information Centre of the University Library. Payment is by switch card or credit card.
A number of printing/copying machines in various libraries function also as scanners. In the University Library at Singel there is a stand-alone bookscanner with a USB port, which is available to everybody. Scans must be saved on a USB memory stick. Scanning is free.
With a valid alumni card of the Amsterdamse Universiteits-Vereniging (AUV) and an ID, you are entitled to a free library card for borrowing at the libraries of UvA and HvA.
