Publishing a thesis

It is possible, and at some faculties even obligatory, to publish your Master's thesis not only on paper, but also electronically in the digital repository  UvA Scripties Online, which is managed by the Library of the University of Amsterdam. Theses added to UvA Scripties Online are easily found online with Google, for example.

Policies for adding theses to UvA Scripties Online vary per faculty. Not all faculties add all (Bachelor) theses, and sometimes it is possible to place a thesis under embargo (i.e. is a period in which the thesis is not yet made available online). In the overview below, the conditions and policies are listed per faculty.

Please contact your own faculty if you have any questions about the inclusion of your thesis in UvA Scripties Online. For more information on copyright and your thesis, please see the students’ section of the Copyright Information Site.

Note: Do not forget to remove any personal information that you would not like to see published online (phone number, email address, home address)  from the thesis version you hand in to UvA Scripties Online.
