The UvA Library gives access to several pre-selected resources such as subject specific databases (see sample below) and e-journals.
Search the databases (and Google Scholar) preferably using ‘Advanced search’. ‘Advanced search’ allows you to better translate your research question into a search string (a combination of search terms) suited to find the information you need with the resource you are using.
Gale Literary Sources
Publications on (comparative) literature studies and linguistics.
Historical Abstracts
Publications on modern history (from 1450 onwards; the United States and Canada are not included).
UvA Catalogue(Plus)
Books and journals articles on all topics, available online (off campus access possible) or for loan at the UvA Library.
International databases such as Google Scholar, LLBA and MLA chiefly collect scholarly literature in English. It is therefore important that you expand your search to include (more) publications in French, available via the UvA Library.
You can use Cairn, Persée or Revues.org to browse through more than 900 French language journals. If an article is not available at one of the three resources, please check if it is (online) available at the UvA Library.
