The Library has switched to a new system for requesting books and/or articles from another library, known as Interlibrary Loans (ILL). Both the way you search and the way you submit your request have changed.
Instead of using Picarta to search in the national catalogue, you will now use WorldCat Discovery. When you find an item you would like to request via ILL, click on 'request this item via interlibrary loan'. The item will be requested from another library. Any digital materials, you will receive via a link in your mailbox.
Due to the transition to this new system and a new library system that is being introduced in mid-2019, the Library has decided not to pass the costs for this service on to UvA staff and students until after 31 August 2019.
Do you have an ILL-account for PiCarta? This will be closed on 4 February 2019. Your details will be deleted from the old ILL system by 31 March 2019 at the latest. Any requests that are still in the system on that date will be processed as usual. We will inform you later about your current credits, about how the costs of the service should be settled after 31 August 2019, as well as the relevant rates.
In WorldCat Discovery, UvA employees and students can place requests directly, logging in with an UvA ID. Others must first have an account created via a form on our website.
