Genome and metabolic pathway information for thousands of organisms
From March to April the UvA had a trial access to the BioCyc Database Collection. This is now converted into a license for one year. If usage by students and staff is satisfactory, then the license will be continued.
The BioCyc database collection is an assortment of organism specific Pathway/ Genome Databases (PGDBs). They provide reference to genome and metabolic pathway information for thousands of organisms whose gene sequence has been determined and include software tools to examine them.
There are databases for a.o. E. coli, B. subtilis, H. sapiens, and S. cerevisiae.
The BioCyc website contains tools for searching, visualizing, comparing, and analyzing genome and pathway information.
Staff and students of the UvA may access BioCyc anywhere by logging in with their UvAnetID.
