SPIE Digital Library now available at the UvA

Database on optics and photonics

5 December 2017

All students and staff at the UvA will now have access to the SPIE Digital Library.

SPIE is the Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers, a non-profit professional organisation for optics and photonics who, among others things, organise conferences. Their research includes areas such as medical biology, communication, sensors, defence and safety, production, electronics, energy, and image processing (imaging).

Content

SPIE Digital Library includes conference papers and presentation, journal articles, and digital books. All in all it contains approximately 450.000 articles from 1962 until the present that are not available through any other database.
For the last few years the purchase of this database has been on the wish list of many astronomers, physicists, medical practitioners, and chemists.

Access

To access the SPIE Digital Library you either need to be in an UvA building or log in with your UvAnetID.
SDL has also been added to the list of databases, in both physics and astronomy.
