Over 17,000 journal titles in UvA License List

Which articles can teachers use free of charge in readers?

The UvA has access to a great number of electronic journal packages through subscriptions with SURFmarket and other platforms. This access includes the right to use articles from relevant journals free of charge in readers offered via UvA Readers Online. You can now find the journal titles to which this applies (over 17,000 in total) and the relevant licensing information in the new UvA License List.

Journals

You can search the UvA License List by journal title and check the available volumes via the supplied URL: if the article is available via this link, you can include it in readers provided via UvA Readers Online without requesting prior permission. This applies to both short (<15 pages) and long (>15 pages) text fragments.

This right does not apply to journal titles that do not appear in the list or volumes that have not been digitised or not fall under the above license. For long text fragments from these titles or volumes copyright must be requested.

E-books

The right to use books or sections of books in readers offered via  UvA Readers Online also applies to a number of e-book collections, comprising over 28,000 e-books.
This applies to the collections of the following publishers:

  • Elsevier (through Science Direct)
  • Springer (through SpringerLink)

You can find these in the E-books List.
