Articles in PeerJ, a peer-reviewed open-access journal on biology and biological sciences, are from this month on indexed in Web of Science. This removes the objection that articles in PeerJ could not be found in renowned indexes.
As of June 2015 PeerJ will get an impact factor for 2014.
Web of Science is one of the best-known and most used indexing services in the world. It is expected that being indexed in Web of Science will increase the prestige of PeerJ and make it more widely known.
100 staff members of UvA can publish open access in PeerJ all their life free of charge. Normally a lifetime publishing plan costs $99.
