A century and a half of articles from the influential American daily newspaper is now fully searchable.
All volumes, issues and articles published by The New York Times from its foundation in 1851 until recently, are now digitally available and accessible to UvA students and staff, due to the license agreement with the University Library.
The search options are quite extensive. Of course, you can search by words from the text, but also by author (e.g. Thomas Friedman), subject (arms embargo), person (F.D. Roosevelt), geographic location (Panama Canal), company (Ford Motor Company) and date.
The Library has more newspaper archives on offer: see the search tips at How to find… newspaper articles.
